Video game development is a good example of this theory breaking down. The resources required to build the game were always present (handful of people and a handful of computers), but this isn't someone "marking up resources" because of a price-discrepancy. It's as if he wants to propose all of possible invention is currently present and merely needs to be extracted like gold from a mine. Which is a fun analogy, and might be philosophically interesting, but hardly scientifically useful.
